When I was first taught to use Levels, I was told to use the black and white point sliders to fix my image, but to leave the midtones slider alone. Is this a valid was to use Levels?? Or am I missing something by not using the midtones slider??

dano, when I use levels, I frequently move the center slider to affect the midtones. Sometimes a boost to midtones can help an image a lot. Of course it totally depends on the photo...AND the user.

If you are looking to correct White Balance follow this Duplicate your Layer Go to Filter>Blur> Average Add a Levels adjustment layer With the Gray eye dropper click and where on the solid color now visible Turn off the eye on the Blur Average Layer Another option is to use the auto button after you have changed the settings on the level adjustment layer  |
