Three frosty photos were added to my gallery earlier. Thought I should explain. On Wednesday, January 18, I drove north to Edmonton to visit my brother. I take a backroad (a low-traffic, 2-lane highway) that is a little bit longer but less stressful than the busy, raceway main freeway. This backroad is more scenic, there are sometimes wildlife photo ops and it is far more relaxing than Hwy 2. And if you spot something it is often easy and safe to pull over. Where I live, there is no snow on the ground ... just he odd shaded patch ... snow coming again. Not far north, not only was there snow on the ground it got foggy and I drove through fog for over two hours. Made for some interesting scenery and finally the fog burned off and the sky was blue. There was a lot of fog in the past week across the prairies. Although not very cold, the winds were light and, and so over several days, the rime (frost that forms from fog vs hoar frost) built up on the trees, fences and power lines. I pulled over a few times to take photos as this is perhaps the best frost (rime) I have ever seen. That's the story behind my gallery posts. Here are some more. These are all 4K images and look better when enlarged.

Well you were certainly rewarded with a magnificent display by Mother Nature, Clive. They are beautiful and need to be clicked to see the larger view. Stunning scenery!

Thanks for your kind comments. It was a good opportunity that I am unlikely to ever see again. Clive

It sure helps if the sun comes out and the clouds are gone. We have had a long stretch of fog and clouds and frost but I find it hard to get something out of it.

I was fortunate because it was mainly still foggy which gave an eerie air to some scenes. Then as I kept driving north some sun was coming through the fog. And finally it was sunny. I feel most fortunate and pleased I took the time to capture this.
