I'm not sure how 'creative' my creative image is, but I really thought this image needed a high key look. I liked that now it looks like it's actually snowing! (I reframed and cropped more out on the left and added the branches back in on the right.)

Nice one, Vicki. Your crop and editing leave no doubt as to what attracted the photographer.

This wasn't the easiest of RAW challenges - and I'd picked it because I remembered struggling about what to do with it. Nice work everyone and it wasn't easy to pick three but here are my choices: fotofrank - I'd never thought about flipping images but it does seem to work in this case (still not sure why!). Also I liked the warming up of the image - less blue, more brown which is more the way I remember it (sand blown up and mixed with the ice). PeteB - I like the crop that emphasises the ice "sculpture" and a black and white conversion is an effective way to get rid of the blue (but leaving a hint of it. VickiD - Not quite sure about the high key look but I did like the portrait crop as I remember when I got home from taking the shot kicking myself for not taking more shots and taking portrait as well as landscape. In fact here's what I finished up with after cropping out a lot of pixels! Again - thanks to all for contributing to the challenge (and to Helen for organizing it) Tony

Thanks for agreeing to send me an image when I asked you for one, Tony. Hopefully a member will volunteer an image for the next challenge and I won't have to hunt someone down. (I hate doing that, but I will if I have to ;-)) You definitely presented us with a difficult one. It was fun to see members willing to take it on. I really enjoyed seeing the different approaches and hope others did as well.
Nice to see your efforts recognized Frank, Pete and Vicki. There was something to learn from the unique way each of you edited the image.
I like the way your cropped version emphasizes the rippley texture of the icy snow, Tony.
Thanks to all who participated and to those who may not have participated but followed this thread. Your interest is what keeps our forum a fun place to visit.

Yes it was a difficult one but it's good to challenge ourselves from time to time. Congrats to Frank, Pete and Vicki - three very different approaches to the subject but each of them winners.

Thanks, Tony...and congrats to Frank and Pete for the recognition from Tony. Who knew a simple image of ice dripping off a tree could result in so many different interpretations! Great starter image!
