Hello Forum Members,
As I'm sure many of you are aware, the image hosting company closely tied to our forum (imgbb) has been problematic for some months now. We know that is frustrating and we feel your pain. I provide more details below, but the bottom line is that unfortunately there isn't anything we are able to do at this time.
Proboards is the company that we host our forum with. They don't offer free image hosting. We get 200Mb of free attachment storage - that's it. If we allowed direct attachments to posts we would use that up in days. imgbb is not affiliated with ProBoards in any way. Proboards has a feature that allows third-parties to write plugins that can be integrated with a forum. We use a number of these, including the one that adds the "Add image to post via imgbb.com" button. The plugins are not maintained by Proboards and any support is dependent upon the plugin developer. ProBoards is not a large company and I don't think the forum market is hot or highly profitable. They have been working on a major upgrade for the past 7 years. The result is that we don't know when to expect major changes in what ProBoards offers, and the plugin community is dwindling away (possibly holding off until the major upgrade).
We can't say what is happening with imgbb.com. There are alternatives out there - they just don't integrate quite as seamlessly into the forum. We have a list of them here and some other posts on our FAQ board about how to use them with this forum.
As mentioned above, the bottom line is that as much as we want an easy, reliable image hosting site that integrates seamlessly into our forum, that just isn't within our control at this point. We will keep everyone updated if this changes.
Thank you as always for your continued support of our forum!
