Well, that's 30 minutes of my life that I'll never get back. I think she deserves to have her day in court, her team brought up some pertinent points about her own creative input into the work she produced. Waiting now for the next installment.

Seems to me if AI programmers used copyrighted images to develop an AI generator, then they should have gotten permission to use the artists' images. Users of AI generators (such as Midjourney) create their own unique image similar to a painter using paints and brushes to develop/paint an image. I don't have a dog in this hunt but will be interesting to see how this copyright issue is decided.

I have read about a number of lawsuits being brought against AI generators such as Deviant Art and MidJourney. My own sympathies are with the artists whose work is being used to generate the ai images without their consent (with their consent, is a different story). I was hoping that I could use AI with my own photos to conjure up my own imaginative backgrounds, but using MidJourney, I had very little success doing this, and I didn't realize that what I was generating was using pieces of other artists' work, so I gave up. ....and about a week ago, I read that there is an algorithm that has already been developed that can mask the style of an artist so it can't be used by AI generators.
I have seen many works generated with AI that are truly fantastic, so hopefully something can be worked out to acknowledge the artists whose style is being used.

Seems there will be much to follow as AI continues to evolve.....I found its success rate at identifying fakes pretty impressive.
