Short notice I know = The Packhorse Librarians of Appalachia airs on PBS today at 2:30PM Central and again at 4:30AM Monday morning.
I think you can watch it anytime HERE --- don't wait too long as they don't keep these videos available for long.

Just watched it, BuckSkin, and it was amazing! As I watched, I was drawn back to my childhood when I visited areas just like some of the ones pictured in the video. I even have a photo of students standing in front of their one-room schoolhouse for their annual school photo. So much history in this video, and I love that Paintsville, the town nearest to my grandmother's home, was mentioned. I believe I have even found a link with Janice Kreider's family in my geneology research! Thanks so much for this glimpse into my past.

Really enjoyed watching that, so inspiring, and as I come from a library background I loved the dedication of those women to get the books through no matter the conditions.

Now we download a book in seconds anytime, anywhere. It is amazing what can be done now compared to a few years ago. Alas, there are still several places in Kentucky without internet access or very poor access; it really created a lot of hardship for school children during the pandemic. The government turned loose of a bunch of money in a misguided effort to remedy the situation and all the usual opportunistic suspects have already lined up to funnel it their way. The information claims "affordable" ; but, the prices I see are far from affordable on a Kentucky budget.
