Beautiful and moving pictures, thanks for sharing. I find they are best viewed full size. Out of interest, what were your camera settings?
Kind regards Chris

what were your camera settings? Thanks Chris. I just did some screenshots for another person. The three in the upper left were from last night and the lower right was 3 years go. Just sample settings that worked. Top image. That f4 lens was the first lens I used for aurora. I now have an f1.4 which is a charm. Feel free to ask questions. Clive I wrote this a couple of years ago.

Thanks Jacki. We are fortunate to live in an area with relatively low levels of urban light. When the moon is new (like right now) a clear night sky out in the country can be mind blowing as there are so many stars. But then my mind goes into warp speed thinking about "why-are-we-here" and "what ifs."

Agree with Jacki......spectacular. Thanks for sharing your settings.....maybe someday I could try for stars at the beach.....do you use the flashlight for lighting the foreground....or just to see what you are doing?

do you use the flashlight for lighting the foreground. Yes .. takes a few tries as it is easy to over expose the foreground. My flashlight has a wide reach and unfortunately lighted the foreground. I'm hearing ya....and after looking at your last image I am now a mess! HA HA! Yeah it can hurt your mind thinking of just how insignificant we are. It is hard for a "heathen" like me to make sense of it all. Thanks for your kind words.

maybe someday I could try for stars at the beach Yes, you should try. The key is using a shutter speed no more than 20 seconds or else the stars will be blurred. Lots of fun.
