I reset all tools and reset the computer, but it is the same, regardless of the font! PSE 2022. Any idea why this might be, and how to correct it?

If resetting the Type tool doesn't fix the problem, this is what Adobe suggests. Type tool stuck in Caps Lock position

I had reset all tools, but that wasn't enough. The suggestion to reset preferences did the trick.
