The Silo
West side of US Hwy 127
A silo separated the successful, well-to-do, from the paupers; it was a symbol of prosperity.
In rolling ground, they dominate the landscape; you can see them from ridges away.
I have seen people speculate on just whose silo they were seeing from some distant ridge; back then, we didn't have Google Earth to consult and answer such mysteries.
One of these days, I am going to put up me a silo, a big one and a tall one; I might not own a cow, but it will be a monument to the fact that I have arrived --- maybe I'll keep my money in it.
