I have only briefly looked at PS, ever. So I am wondering if there is a significant difference in the Selections modules in PS vs PSE? I play with composites a lot, so that is an important one for me. I thought I would ask here before getting too far down the rabbit hole. cjt

My first question is what are calling/referring to as the Selection modules? Both programs have selection tools, I'm not sure I have ever seen a selection module. Selection tools have gotten better in Elements, however, in my opinion the selection tooIs available in Photoshop do a better job. Having said that, like the pen tool they come with a learning curve. The Masking tools in Photoshop Camera Raw are far superior to those in Elements.

cjt, never having used PSE (until last week), I can't compare. I can only say that the selection tools for PS have improved by leaps and bounds. If you want a taste of what and how, go to YouTube and search for Photoshop Selections. Then watch the videos from PhotoshopCafe. Colin Smith does a great job explaining things. Vicki

cjt Not sure if this is what you are looking for or perhaps this is redundant and you already know this. I don't use PS, only PSE, and I use selection tools constantly in PSE and quite happy. Tools are circled in green.

I quite agree with Frank. Selection tools have come a long way in Elements but they are not at the same level as their Photoshop counterpart. You could also look into Elements+, an add-on created by one of our members -- Andrei Doubrovski. See Selections. And it comes with a bonus. A five-star in-house help!
