Image from Pixabay Kit used - Naturelle by SBKingdom.
For this page I chose the kit I wanted to use first then went looking for an image to complete the page.

I love the soft colours of this page, very calming and nicely composed. If I take a big breath I can almost smell the sand and the sea.

Thank you Lillias and cats4jan . I found starting with a kit easier than starting with a picture. The reason I have come to appreciate templates.

I start with an idea - usually sparked by something I see (then I grab photos to fulfill the idea) or an idea gets sparked by a photo. I try and find a template, then I drop the photos onto it. Then I try to find a kit that continues the theme and also coordinates with the photos. My best layouts start with a template, even if the end product doesn’t look a bit like the template when I’m done. I am grateful for the inspiration templates provide. After all these years - nearly 20 - I still can’t seem to put an interesting layout together without the inspiration provided by templates. I discovered digital scrapbooking by accident. I happened upon scrapbooking kits while trying to find graphics for my greeting cards. This lead me to scrapbooking sites. I wanted to participate in those sites, so I had to start scrapbooking. Microsoft seemed to want to get into the photo editing game. They packed Picture It with 12x12 photo cardstock used for printing scrapbook pages.
The scrapbooking world adopted the 12x12 size early on - after abandoning 8.5x11 and 8x10 - which was all the scrapbook sizes and paper we could get in the beginning.
Picture It morphed into Digital Image Suite - which was a decent program for photo editing and scrapbook and greeting card creation - but my take on Digital Image Suite's demise was that Microsoft just couldn't compete with Adobe.

Your years of experience plus your patience with helping those of us who are new to scrapping is much appreciated, cats4jan.

It’s truly a pleasure to pass on the joy I’ve gotten from this hobby. I never thought I had any artistic skills, but I feel the way a page comes together is art.
