Came across this image taken at Tuckahoe Plantation today. After converting to B/W I played with the color-grading sliders for shadows and highlights. This time I used 40 for the shadows with a saturation of 21 and increased the brightness. For the highlights I chose 40/10 and reduced the luminance -7. Seemed to have a better sepia quality in LR then I see here. Need to keep experimenting with those sliders. But this is a good learning experience.
Another version adding colors from an old family picture to create a gradient map.

Looking across a field of round, green-feed bales (with geese) to Turtle Mountain. This could never be a true "vintage" photo because the large round bales have only been around for 40 or so years. (The first large, round baler was invented in 1966.) Two versions. Like hmca, the paler versions seem to work better.

Made sepia and then added a bit of noise to age it a little.

Made sepia and then added a bit of noise to age it a little. Excellent sepia example. Welcome to the forum and great to see you participating in the Challenges. Interesting spoked wheel had me wondering what it was originally. Any idea? Tony

Hello Tony and thank you for the welcome. The photo is half of a coal mine pithead wheel. It is located at a museum called 'Elsecar' (pronounced 'Elsaka'), South Yorkshire, England. This area was big in coal mining until all the mines closed down. I've often wondered if the other half of the wheel is present underground or if it has been cut off. Probably the latter.

I'm quite pleased with that one because I did it PSE rather than Xara Designer. Got to admit I used Designer for the border though.
