I was reading the actual user manual for my new mobile phone = a Smart Flip Phone or so they say; myself, it don't seem all that intelligent to me.
I didn't want a "Smart" phone of any sort; I just wanted a simple-as-can-be small flip-phone that would send and receive calls and nothing else; alas, no such was available from the sixty-bucks-a-year unlimited talk/text no-data plan that I got.
The sixty-bucks-a-year is supposed to be locked in for now and all time to come --- we shall see --- others I know have had the plan for several years and nobody has cut them off yet = you go in and pay cash once a year.
There is a very brief mention of connecting with other phones via BlueTooth; but, no description as to why one would wish to do so.
I did notice that, when an old phone that still had service was laying on the truck seat, it showed up in the available BlueTooth connections.
What, if any, are the advantages to connecting with another phone via BlueTooth ? What can I do with it ?

As for BlueTooth, I have had several other TracFones that quickly and easily connected to my Pioneer DEH-X6500BT Stereo and from that day forth always worked without a hitch with no further input from me.
Verizon took over TracFone and destroyed it's wonderful service, making the simplest thing into an absolute nightmare, hence this new phone and new service that is NOT TracFone and DEFINITELY NOT Verizon (like a Volvo truck, I will never have anything to do with Verizon, EVER AGAIN).
I have over 7,000 bought and paid for minutes in the old TracFone that I will lose at midnight on the 11th.
I intended to turn it over to my little sidekick with orders to not lay it down until every last minute was used up; but, alas, she is incommunicado at the present; I am not giving Verizon another cent to keep it going; maybe I will make a call to the house phone and lay it off the hook and drop the old TracFone over amongst a double-deck load of hogs bound for points unknown.

I don't expect anyone to spend time seeking a solution to my situation described below; I just need to vent my frustrations and needed a kind shoulder to cry on; and, who knows, a fresh pair of eyes/ears might see the obvious that I am missing.
Fast forward to my new phone = I spent seven hours in the 100°-plus cab of my truck this evening, playing with the BlueTooth.
Once I got the phone to finally connect with the truck, it would maybe work once and then drop out again = never had this trouble with any of my previous phones; this one is AT&T Cingular Flex.
I finally got the phone to remain connected and finally got my contacts --- all two of them --- to transfer to the Pioneer's phone book, so that I could leave the phone in the glove-box and do my calling through the stereo.
The only times I was able to get any of these wonderful features to work was a single instance after every manipulation in the stereo's BlueTooth menu = things would work once and only once and from then on, it completely ignored any attempt on my part to repeat the performance.
The one time it would work, it would work instantaneously; I would think "Oh Boy ! We've got 'er fixed up now" ; then, repeat whatever I did exactly and get no reaction whatsoever.
I have read and reread both the stereo and phone user manuals until my eyes are sore.

What does work = I can call the truck/stereo from any other phone and the stereo will pick up the signal; I touch the little "Phone" button and the stereo answers the call; the phone call is coming through the stereo speakers --- all eight of them --- I can crank it up to where people two counties away can hear the conversation; I finish the call and touch the little "Phone" button to "hang up" and end the connection = everything works perfect and every detail of the call is stored within the stereo's memory.
I can be in the truck and physically place a call using the phone in my hand as if I would place any call from anywhere; I hit "Send" or "Call" or whatever(on the phone) and the stereo immediately takes over, places the call, and handles everything from there; I can throw the phone in the floorboard and continue the call without touching the phone.

What only works once after each manipulation within the stereo's BlueTooth menu:
Scroll to a contact within the stereo's phone book, looking at it on the stereo's screen, click the selector to select the contact and click again to place the call = works first time every time, but never a second or third time.
Likewise when I select my contact from the six presets within the stereo's on-screen menu = works first time every time, but never a second or third time.
Likewise when I touch the "Phone" button to "Pick up the phone" and then touch one of the six external radio station preset buttons and click to commit the call = this is the way hands-free calls are supposed to be made with no need to take one's eyes --- and more importantly their mind --- from the road = works first time every time, but never a second or third time.
And, like I said, I can make a minor manipulation within the stereo BlueTooth menu and change it back to like I had it and I can then make a single hands-free call perfectly - but only the one.
