The item on left was made by grabbing the Move Tool and pushing in the side - you can do as little or lot as you wish The item on bottom is pulled pixels from the original paper. To make pulled pixels, cut a slice from your background paper - put that slice on it's own layer - and use your Move Tool to pull the side until you have the look you want. You can pull a corner and skew the pattern. Know there is no right way or wrong way - just pull or push - as little or lot as you want. I find the pulled pixels a better choice as a background because the flowered original is more pattern than I like to work with on my pages, but I loved the colors. You can use your 'new paper' to create items by grouping/clipping a shape with your new paper or by grouping/clipping text with the paper.

I find the pulled pixels a better choice as a background because the flowered original is more pattern than I like to work with Good tip, Janice. I have a number of patterned pages where I like the colors but the overall pattern is over-whelming.

You can also blend the pulled pixel paper with another plain color layer to mute it even further.
