Non destructive Way To Adjust White Balance

Hi Chris,

Try this . . .

1. Duplicate the Background layer (Ctrl/Cmmd-J).
2. Apply the Average Blur filter (Filter > Blur). Your image will turn a solid gray color.
3. Create a Levels Adjustment Layer.
4. Select the Gray Pointer eyedropper (the middle one).
5. Click on the image.
6. Hide or delete the duplicated Background layer.

NOTE:

Sometimes, because of the nature of the image, it may be difficult to find a neutral area on which to click with the Levels Gray Pointer eyedropper. That's when the Average Blur filter comes into play. This filter will create a solid color which is the average of the colors in the image; this solid color is the tint of the color cast. When you click on this layer with the Gray Pointer eyedropper, all color will get removed from it. Now the Levels algorithm has a gray image to calculate the necessary adjustments.
