I have just reloaded all my programs, etc on a new laptop after my old one started crashing too often. Part of that setup included purchasing a 2TB Western Digital My Cloud Drive because I want to be able to access photos at other locations in my home. I quickly ran into problems and was not able to get the Organizer to see the networked drive. Then I found out when researching that it seems the Organizer cannot read networked drives (apparently). Is this true and if so are there any clever techies out there that may have figured out a work around for this?
Thanks,
Jim Lawrence

Thanks,
Jim Lawrence See: www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Watching_Network_FoldersThe organizer was never meant to work on a network. Some users have apparently managed to do it, but they have not shared their recipes... The underlying database engine (sqlite) does not allow current access, and even Lightroom does not offer the sharing flexibility you are expecting. I have no personal experience with networks, but if it's only the 'watched folder' feature that bothers you, please consider forgetting that and perform an 'import' command for your whole library: only new files will be returned with reasonable speed. I would not expect any change in future versions, mainly because all efforts are now targetted at providing Web sharing options like Revel.

Thanks,
Jim Lawrence I use PSE 13 and a 3 TB My Cloud. I was able to read the MC and store the Adobe cat. I was totally not satisfied with the response when using another PC on WIFI with PSE 13 - I abandoned the effort completely and use MC for backing up my cat. I can't remember what I did to make the cat accessible on the network.

I use a mac and am in the process of moving my images and catalog to free up space on my hard drive to an external WD hard drive - formatted for mac.
Method
1) Copied all the image files/folders I want in the catalog onto the external hard drive
2) I am now creating a new catalog which I will make my default. - DONE and old catalog deleted
3) Once I am sure thats all operational and being backed up by Time Machine, I will delete the images from my Pictures folder as well as the old catalog - Backup underway
4) Also, still have to test that I can direct import of new images to the same drive - DONE - and so via Preferences -> Camera or card reader -> Browse to change default location to the external drive
So I'm ready to go, just waiting for first backup to finish before I delete the files from Picture folder now and free up space on my hard drive - yippee!!
