I constructed this picture made with nails (left) when I was in my early twenties. I was inspired to have a go when I saw artists showing their work on Bayswater Road - London. They had lots of great ideas, not only paintings but using all sorts of things to make pictures. Old cogs, clock parts etc. I thought I could have a go at something like that and made this picture. I still have it 56 years later. It's on a shelf out in the garage looking all neglected and rusty, so I thought I'd see if it could be produced digitally in Xara Designer. This is the result.
The hardest part was getting the first nail to look something like a real nail. All other nails are duplicates of this. Not correct geometrically but then neither was the original picture.
Not too bad maybe.
