A potentially big day for both Windows and Mac users!
MacOS Sonoma is scheduled for release today. The addition of Widgets and the ability to add websites to your dock are probably the two I'm most excited about (Mac users - Dock our forum for quick access!). I've seen the release time to be around 1:00 PM EDT.
Microsoft is scheduled to release updates today as well, bringing a lot of new features to Windows 11. This includes their new Copilot AI Tool, a significantly enhance Paint with layers and generative AI, an improved Photos experience, and a modernized File Explorer. It isn't completely clear if all this will drop today, or if today's updates will include some but not all of the features. It looks like the full feature set will make up Release 23H2, but today's updates are likely to be packaged as updates to the current version, 22H2. Check your Windows Update if you want to get the updates as soon as possible (like me). |

Thanks for the heads up Andy.  a modernized File Explorer. Well, MS Windows File Explorer could learn a lot from third-party software developers. File Explorer is great for overall file management but it is horrific for previewing images and finding images. Perhaps they will make improvements in this update. Thanks again for the alert. Clive |

I just checked for the W.11 update and it isn't being offered yet. Soon I expect. Regarding finding files and images quickly Clive, I have used a search tool called 'Everything' by Voidtools for some years now. It finds files almost instantly. List or thumbnail views are selectable.

The update has arrived and is installed. The only noticeable difference noticed so far is the addition of an icon on the Taskbar called 'Copilot'. When clicked, it opens a side window that will answer typed questions. Thought I'd put it to the test and asked, 'How many ohms in a 1k resistor'. It came up with a comprehensive description that even included the colour code and tolerance bands for a 1k resistor. Quite impressed.

Just finished update on my iMacMini to Sonoma. Per usual, whole new set of wallpaper, etc. Will say this was the quickest update I can recall seeing, maybe 45 minutes. Shall see about widgets, et al in the days to come.
