I've recently bought a new computer with Win 11 installed.
The Editor and Organiser are both installed and usually working fine. However I've noticed that after the computer has gone to sleep and I've woken it up then the Editor fails to open. I've tried all ways, including double clicking on the Exe file. I then turn off the computer completely. Start it up again and all is fine ... until the next time.
It's not an insurmountable problem but very irritating especially if I've got several programs open which I have to save and close before shutting down.
Any idea what could be causing the problem please?

Hi ChrisAnn,
I don't really know what is causing this problem; I'm going out on a limb here. Let's try creating a new shortcut for the Editor.
1. Navigate to the Editor .exe file. 2. Right-click on it. 3. Select Send to>Desktop (create shortcut).
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2022\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
If the above doesn't solve the problem, you could try running Elements as administrator. It seems to fix many glitches Elements develops.
1. Right-click on the Elements shortcut and select "Run as administrator". 2. Do some testing around. 3. If the problem went away, close Elements. 4. Open Elements again but this time do it from your standard user account.

Thanks Sepiana. I'll give that a go this evening. It happened again this morning when I 'woke up' the computer. It's fine again now that I turned the computer completely off and then on again.
I'll investigate how to run Elements as administrator.

Sometimes a program will not open because it is already running invisibly in the background. This could be the case if the computer has gone into sleep mode with PSE still running. After a while of being asleep, the computer goes further by going into 'hibernate' where all open programs, settings and pages get stored in a file on the computer. The idea being that when the computer starts after a long period of idleness, it all come up again with how you left things.
It could be that PSE is having trouble coming out of either sleep or hibernation enough to open the program interface for you to see. Lots of people disable hibernation because the file used for storing the state of things takes up quite a lot of disk space. Also, in some cases, because trouble is experienced in waking programs up. I run my computer with hibernation disabled. It's no real disadvantage because all that has to be done is to save work and close programs before leaving the computer. I prefer to go a step further and turn off at the mains at night.
One way to see if this might apply is when PSE won't open. When this happens, right-click on the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen and choose 'Task Manager'. Look in the list of running programs for 'Adobe Photoshop Elements 2022' (the '2022' part might not be visible). The list is alphabetical, so it should be at or near the top. If it is there, right click on the line and then left click 'End Task' in the menu. When the the entry is gone, close Task Manager and try and open PSE again.

Thank you Mart I'll give that a try. I've never understood the different between sleep and hibernate - now I know. Thanks for that too.
