Used the clipping mask method, added bevel and outer glow. I would have liked to try the method Lillias used in her first example, but couldn't figure out how to do that....so came up with this instead.

I would have liked to try the method Lillias used in her first example, but couldn't figure out how to do that....so came up with this instead. Both your examples look good Helen. I did a search and found a video on how to do the invisible text in PS. It is so easy and in fact it works in PSE too which is a bonus. First you must choose black as your colour or this won’t work and type out your text. Then apply the Screen blend mode which makes your text invisible and now open up your Layer Styles and apply a Bevel and Emboss Style and adjust the sliders to suit the look you want.
If you look at this video he shows this effect starting around 3.40mins in. www.youtube.com/watch?v=93kL2pZ3Ipo

Couldn't resist a quick look....three nice examples. Thanks again!

Two layers of photo The word Chicago was grouped/clipped with the original photo Opaqueness lessened on second copy of photo to use as background Layer Style - bevel - added to word art This word art is part of a layout I made in 2007.

I used this for a Christmas card a few years ago (different words and replaced the lighthouse with a snowman ) but I couldn't find the template so have redone it for this challenge. I used this tutorial www.youtube.com/watch?v=_T-sxEGgl1g but used different font and changed the tracking between the letters to make it look a little more hand drawn. The plan was to use Transform/Perspective on the font layer but it was greyed out so had to use Skew instead which isn't quite as realistic but not too bad.

The plan was to use Transform/Perspective on the font layer but it was greyed out Howard, The Perspective command will be grayed out until you simplify your Type layer. Right-click on the Type layer and select "Simplify Layer" from the drop-down menu. Now Perspective will be activated. Keep this in mind though! Simplifying text has a few downsides. For further information on this process, please, see . . . Text and the Simplifying Process.
