I have just read latest updates to Sepiana thread regarding importing files. My previous attempts at using Organizer have shown it to be slow, perhaps because I store/access my files on a NAS drive via wifi rather than local HDD. However I would like to try again. In the latest update, one point mentions, "Generate Previews: Creates low-resolution copies called preview files while importing." Does this mean if I don't tick this option I will not have thumbnail views, or is the preview version a mid-step between thumbnail and full size/resolution image? Thanks for your advice in advance.

That old option was created many years ago to allow organizing (tagging...) your files and updating the catalog when the media (CDs mainly) were not available / plugged in the computer. I don't think anybody uses it today. A reduced size of each photo is stored on the computer in a bigger size than the tiny thumbnail size (max 320 pixels...) to allow previewing more comfortablys without the true originals on the CDs.
