I stumbled upon these two means of converting/saving WebP Image files to jpegs; I will share them here in hopes that it may benefit others.
Firstly, if one is downloading an image and it happens to be a WebP file, I have found that Chrome browser will only download them as WebP no matter what tricks I may try to employ.
Pale Moon browser has the ability to convert them to jpegs during the download.
To make this work, first, temporarily set your file handler, Explorer in my case, to show file extensions.
Then Right-click the desired image and select Save Image As (or Save Image).
In the dialogue that appears, down there at the bottom where it says something to the effect of "as type" and the type is .webp, click the little triangle and change this to "All Files" (or All File Types).
Then, in the file-name line, type your desired file-name and add .jpg as the extension and Save or Okay; Pale Moon will save the image as a jpeg and not as a WebP.
No matter what I have tried, I cannot get Chrome to accomplish this.
Now, if you already have some WebP Image files and you wish them to be jpegs, fire up FREE GIMP photo editor.
Drag and drop the WebP files into GIMP and choose File > Export and export them as .jpg
Surprisingly, thus far, FastStone ignores WebP files.
I have noticed this = not in all cases, but many times, when you look at the WebP file-name with extension, it will be something like filename.jpg.webp; so, it is obvious that someone or some program has saved jpegs as WebP and not even bothered to remove the .jpg
I am sure there are dozens of quicker easier ways to accomplish this, but the above is what I have figured out.
