I would like to find out how to add photos that already have geotagged GPS data to places and am not having any luck doing it. My camera doesn't automatically add GPS data when photos are taken so I manually add the data when I download them to my pc. Here is how I do it: when I go out on a shoot, I use an Android app called GPicSync that creates a track log as I walk around. when I download the photos into PSE Organizer, first thing I do is sync the track log the photos. If I check the IPTC data, I can see the geotagged info there, but when I go into Places, I can't locate the photos where I would expect them to be given the GPS data in the metadata. Maybe I am missing some steps, or maybe this just doesn't work in Organizer. I thought I read somewhere that Organizer will recognize the GPS data and automatically place the geotagged photos on the map. Can anyone explain the method to accomplish this?
Thanks, Jim Lawrence

I played with this several years ago and it worked fine. If no one answers today I'll play with it again and get back to you. I did the same thing you did, had an app that I walked around with and then synced the pictures to the app and they ended up in PSE, don't remember the specifics but I checked and they are still there and showing on a map.

I just tried doing it with Lightroom and it worked fine. I'm afraid I don't know how to do it with PSE.

Do you still want me to try it for PSE?

I just glanced at my app for Geotagging. Bringing back vague memories. I made sure the phone time and the camera time were in sync, uploaded the pics and the file from the app, ran the program on my PC which put the geotagging info into the meta data, loaded into PSE. Worked fine.
Is this the procedure you were following? We are using different programs.

Hi, Sue,
Yes to all questions. What program are you using? Maybe I can try that to see is I get the same results.

It is called Geotag. I have used it on both my Iphone and Android.

Thanks. In think I may have figured my problem out. I went back and re-downloaded some test photos and when I went to geotag with my chosen app, I noticed they asked to tag files with IPTC or EXIF tags. It was then that I realized I always chose the IPTC data so I decided to check the EXIF option to see what would happen. Sure enough, when I went to Places in the organizer, there were the photos right where they should be on the map. I'm not sure if that was the problem, but I seem to have resolved the problem and that is what counts.

You can look at the data. In Organizer, click on Information, then Metadata, near the bottom is GPS. The information should be stored there. Look at a picture where you put the data in the IPTC and then at one for the EXIF. If you have time, please post your results here so the next person with this problem can resolve it by reading the thread.
