The member who submitted for the RAW Challenge suggested we try a new dimension this time. There will be four images that you may use to create a panorama….or you may choose to just work with as many as you want to create your submission. You may want to explain what factors went into your decision. Hope you have fun with this and we all learn something. Looking forward to seeing how you approach this challenge. 1. Participants in the challenge may provide a screenshot of their edits within the RAW converter of their choice along with the reasons for their edits. 2.Following their initial edits members may use whatever “tools" they wish to create an image that portrays their artistic vision for the image as long as the character of the original image is not lost. You may not add anything to the image that wasn’t already there. 3. Including information on plug-ins, actions, external editors, textures, sky replacements etc that were used will only help to inform members of some of the creative options that are available to today’s photographer. 4. Including layer stacks may be something to consider when presenting a final edit. This is a screenshot of the four images that have been provided for this challenge. Link to the images that have been provided.

It has been reported that it is taking very long to download the images for this challenge. Please note that you have the option of just working on one or two images. Would appreciate your experience trying to download the images. Thank you.

I didn't have a problem downloading and had a quick try at bringing three into Lightroom, creating a pano which I then cropped a bit and applied a preset from MattK called crisp warm. I rather liked it so stopped there for now. I think the sky could still use some help and wasn't sure what to do with the moon. Looking forward to seeing what others come up with. Here are the settings I used in LR and the resultant image: Tony

Thanks for getting this started and reporting on downloading the images, Tony.
I can see why you liked the warm look as it has brought out a lot of details in the highlights and shadows. As for the sky....you don't have to use the moon. It might look good with a daytime sky. Sky replacements are allowed for this challenge. And I too am interested to see how members will approach this challenge.

That seems to work well. Curious, did you use the new free Fx 2023 that was posted on the forum?

Thanks for this Helen. ( I had no issues with the downloads) Minimal global adjustments after the merge to a Pano. Use my custom Profile. Replaced the Sky, added in the Moon with a mask. Did three local adjustment.

That seems to work well. Curious, did you use the new free Fx 2023 that was posted on the forum? I already had the ON1 sky replacement - I don't think the free effects would come with it.

Really nice edit, Frank. Thanks for adding your panels. I like the sky you chose and your idea of masking in the moon.

As I've been playing around with style transfer in Photoshop I had to give this one a try - it's one of the artist styles applied at reduced opacity: Tony

After applying LR's denoise, adjusting the white balance, I brought the three images into PS to create my panorama. There I also removed the cactus. Back in LR I did minor adjustments: After that it was back to PS where I used NIK CE6 Dynamic Contrast. I couldn't find a sky that I wanted so ended up creating a fake one using a blue layer, star brushes and a soft white brush to suggest light in the valley below (which isn't very noticeable). Added the moon at a reduced opacity and with a slight blur. This is what I came up with......

Glad you added that, Tony. Nice to see how it was handled by the neural filter.

Well I don’t know what the problem was but it took me several attempts and a fair bit of time to obtain the downloads of these images. However I have them now but it's bedtime so won't get to working with them till tomorrow.

I chose just one of the four images to work with this time round. From RAW had to change from 16 to 8 bit before could duplicate image Applied High Pass filter to the duplicate with the blend mode of Vivid Light. Created a stamped layer and replaced the sky with a Pastel Sky from MixPixBox Added a Levels adjustment Layer and called it done.
