I have been using Photoshop Elements 2023 in the Expert mode for a long time. All of a sudden when I crop a photo the result is a tiny unusable thumbnail. What happened and can someone help me fix it? Thank you in advance

Hi sistymacher, welcome to PSE&M! When a tool develops an abnormal behavior, Adobe recommends resetting it. Let's try resetting the Crop tool. 1. Click on the four-lined button on the right end of the Tool Options bar. 2. Select "Reset Tool" from the drop-down menu. 3. Try the Crop tool. See if the problem is gone.

sistymacher, you are most welcome! Glad the Crop tool is back to its normal behavior.
I don't really know the cause of this misbehavior. One thing that comes to mind is a new feature Adobe introduced back in PSE 13 -- Auto-crop Suggestions. According to reports posted in the Adobe Support Community, this feature seems to create glitches. See if turning it off will help the Crop tool.
1. Go to Edit>Preferences>General (Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor>Preferences> . . . on a Mac). 2. Turn off "Enable Crop Pre-Selection".
