Bohemian Waxwing
Our Coaldale backyard, March 2, 2024 The bird is shown as photographed after light post-processing of the raw image. Twigs and other distractions have been removed from the photo to promote the bird's contorted body and keep it uncluttered. I attempted to emulate Audubon's paintings of the 1800s. (Not my intend before taking the photo but the photo lent itself.) Many of his paintings had simple, uncluttered backgrounds. The fancy font was similar to the one he used for the birds common names. It is not a font I'd normally use. It is eating dried ornamental crabapples. I do not plan to spend more time on this, but your expert suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

I love your presentation Clive, really shows off the bird and his ability to access that piece of dried fruit! Your uncluttered background is perfect.

Once I recognized the similarity to some of Audubon's old paintings I had to try it. Took me a couple of hours. I am please with the outcome.

At first, it took me quite a bit to figure out what I was looking at until I figured out his head was on backwards and then I could see it easily.
I like the fancy cursive and the whole style of the thing; I think you should do a series of these.

Like Buckskin it took me a minute to figure out what I was looking at. Wish I was as agile as this guy. Very nice clean presentation Clive.

Wish I was as agile as this guy. Well we all are this agile....However.. it just takes us a few days to recover with the aid of assorted pain and anti-inflammatory meds and a trip to physio.

What an awesome capture Clive - I knew that owls could turn their heads around but have been surprised on more than one occassion now to find a bird in a shot I took had their head turned around while in flight or perched. This shot of yours raises that to another level and is superbly processed too!

I tend to like sunshine for colors and details, However, in this case, the dull, flat light and blah sky worked well. Thanks Clive
