Good topic and very timely as last month our camera club topic was "pictures of things from angles you never thought of" so I have a few abstracts that should work in B&W and also took a couple more today. Here are some to start - the third one I took today and is a vertical intentional camera movement and I used a duotone rather than pure B&W    Tony |

Thanks for getting this started, Tony. I especially like the third one. It is inspiring me to try ICM for this challenge.
Like the angle and geometric lines of the second one......and the first one isn't going to trick me into thinking it's a pie again. Off for dinner hope to come back with a couple of my own.

Can't say I'm thrilled with these, but looking around the apartment this is what I could come up with for today...... Edited in SE 6 with the Street Old preset.   |

Not new images but inspired by Madhur Dhingra's work I tried to edit two from my files to emulate his style. Thoughts appreciated.   |

Both of those abstracts work well Helen. The second photo particularly so. Sometimes difficult to come up with an abstract photo that might look interesting without a bit of editing, so this one has had some. Contrast and brightness played with and noise added. A handy little item to have if there is any soldering to do ..and it has so many bits, pieces and wingnuts. Abstract or just interesting is debatable. If it was a framed picture hanging up in a waiting room, it might make people look twice.  |

The second would be my choice - in the first one I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be looking at while in the second my eye was drawn to the figure and then following the lights. I'd would have probably cropped it squarer to remove some of the black area and emphasise the diagonal of the lights but that's just my preference. Does make a great abstract B&W. Tony |

I'm not sure how abstract this is but it caught my eye while walking past a piece of playground equipment and I used the phone camera to give a lot of depth of field  Tony |

I could probably crop out a good portion of the left....plus the man walking is barely visible. I don't have my EHD attached today so just lifted the second one from our page and used the transform tool and cropped to get a squarish image....and added some lbs to the figure  . Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I thought they were my two best candidates to try his "look".  |

Nice sense of depth in your spiral image....I might have been tempted to fill the spaces where the ground shows through in black. Nice find.
