Nice range of black-white tones, Howard. Like the faint circular shapes.

After mentioning to Tony about filling in the ground with black on his playground shot, I went back to a picture I took yesterday of my coffee filter and tried it out.

I'll have to try filling in - I would never have guessed that started life as coffee filter! In the meantime I was playing with another shot I took the other day of the bark of a large tree stump. It had very interesting looking shapes but not a lot of contrast so I thought a sketch effect might help emphasize the patterns so the second version used the graphic novel filter in PSE and set the blend mode to overlay. I quite liked the result. Tony

tonyw ....both of those work for me. That's what I would think of as a "great find". blackmutt .....interesting what we see when we're looking for "something".

Hi all. Sorry for my absence ... just busy with life. All good. I took this for another reason today but it might fit here. If you do not know what it is, please ask.

Looks like it would fit in with the images on the Keith Dotson site linked to in the first post, Clive. As to what it is.....I'm thinking an insect infestation of some kind?

Thanks. Yes, these are called galleries. Beetles deposit eggs in a tree trunk and the larvae tunnel around under the bark until they are ready to emerge as adults.

Thanks, Clive. I had great fun trying to figure this new app out. I like that one, too.

Here is a photo I took some time ago. Not sure if it fits the theme. An old dried out tree in the forest taken with a flash at night and later processed with Fractalius. Kind regards Chris
