I started off with this image from Pixabay with the idea of trying to make it look like a painted image.
First I lightened it and duplicated it twice.
On one copy I applied the cutout filter
On the second copy I applied the ripple filter and used the Pin Light blend mode to blend it with the first copy.
I created a stamped layer and applied a canvas texture to it.
Then I had the idea to put the result on an old paper sketch book which came from Hiclipart.
I did that and using an inverted mask and various brushes I brushed parts of the image back into sight.
Not sure if I achieved my original objective but I enjoyed the process.
