Forest fires are a natural part of forest ecosystems. (Most are started by human activity and our population is ever-increasing.) Fires are not good for air quality but smokey skies serve as coloured (density) filters enabling us to photograph the sun. Smoke has drifted our way from the far north and made for spectacular red skies this evening near sunset. July 20, 2024. 600-mm lens and shot at ISO 160, f10 and 1/5,000 second.   |

Showing off your expertise, Clive! Aww, thanks Helen but honest this is soooooooo easy. Point and shoot. I first saw sunspots when conditions were similar about 10 years ago. At first, I thought the flecks were dust bunnies. Love this stuff ... well, not the smokey atmosphere. |
