Since I own Topaz Denoise 3.7.2 I took the experiment 1 more step. There are minor differences, but I prefer the simplicity of using just one platform.   |

Shooting my night blooming cereus at night requires a high ISO to obtain reasonable results. Here are 3 side by side screen captures (left before unedited raw from last night - right finished raw). I'll gladly provide the unedited raw files. Wow, Peter. Impressive. Thanks. Maybe I will have to cave and get On1. I've been shooting grizzly bears in low evening light at ISO 5,000 to 12,800. My photo buddies use Light Room and Photoshop which they say are really pretty good (ACR) at noise reduction.

My photo buddies use Light Room and Photoshop which they say are really pretty good (ACR) at noise reduction. I open raw images in ACR and use the noise reduction slider but it tends to make images mushy. The noise reduction filter in PSE is "okay" but not great. These tools are good for modest noise. One of the issues with my recent, late-day grizzly bear photos is the bears are typically 200 to 400 meters away and even with a 600-mm lens have to be cropped hard. I've been shooting at ISO 5,000 to 12,800. I am most impressed with the noise reduction you have achieved. Hope you are okay me posting these for comparison. As shot. I did lighten the inset cropped from the original raw .. otherwise no edits

It is a tricky image as it was underexposed. So there is a lot to do with it. And so far away as well. Thank you! |

Clive, Steps and settings:
I usually don't use any On1 camera profiles and start with linear raw Increased exposure, contrast, midtones, shadows, whites, & vibrance Executed Noise & sharpening Used super select AI to choose the bears & added dynamic contrast Created a luminosity mask and applied dynamic contrast Cropped to my liking Exported both full image and cropped to jpg in order to share with you; without On1 the edits on the war file would not be visible. Cropped  No crop  |

BTW, when installing it asked if I wanted to use it as "standalone" or as an "Adobe plugin"... I selected standalone. I can't play with it until this evening. We might get aurora this evening and walking with other photography friends tomorrow. Thanks |
