I took a picture of sunflowers this morning with the idea of doing “something a bit creative” with them. That led me to Google sunflower pictures where I found these pictures posted by Pottery Barn. But I didn't stop there and instead came upon the work of Noelle Bennett, a New Zealand photographer. She employs ICM and impressionistic touches to create images that I find particularly inspiring. While I often share the work of inspiring photographers in this thread, I wanted to dedicate this post to some of her images that resonate with me and remind me of some work shared by some of our members. In particular, I would like to call your attention to her thoughts about Photography Awards and her accompanying images. Be sure to check out Flora, Fungi and Lichen and Animals. Lastly, I hope that you will consider adding a thread with some ramblings of your own!

Although not my usual style preference in photography, it's hard not to be impressed by her images. I enjoyed the fungi in particular.
When I see photos like these I often wonder what time and level of patience and dedication must be required. Plus the vision to see what is possible.
Thanks for the heads up on her, Helen.

Perhaps I would learn to look at them critically and objectively, using my head and not just my heart. And perhaps that shift could help to move me forward. I realise that competitions will always be subjective…that what one judge likes, another may not…but interestingly, in terms of progress, I think I have learnt more from the images that didn’t do well than those that did. So competition entry for me is not about trumpet-blowing and kudos. It’s about validation and learning. Thank you, Helen.

Helen Thanks for the Noelle Bennett links. Love how she has cutout the subject and gave it a new background.
