Just a note - this year’s release has moved to a three-year license term it is no longer a Lifetime license to use. The editor stops working in three years. You may love Elements 2024 more than you think.

I find that a very unreasonable policy, another gouge on people's purses by big business. What a rip off.

As someone noted in a FB group, for $99 you only end up paying $2.75 a month.....which certainly isn't alot. The important thing seems to be to not delete the copy you are presently using. Just note that the trial is no longer for 30 days....but a week instead.

Wow, that is upsetting! What I want to know is, where can I get a copy of PSE2024 before it becomes unavailable. It will certainly be the last version I buy.

I can see me going over to the Affinity series as they've promised not to jump on to the licencing bandwaggon. (I will stick with Organiser though as I find that invaluable.)

Very disappointing. I purchased PSE 2024 last year and that will be the last Adobe purchase I make. I think my copy of Affinity Photo will be getting more use now.

I like all the new features of PSE 2025*. However, I am also very disappointed and sad at Adobe's policy to sell PSE 2024 as a 3 year subscription. I also don't know if by agreeing to install PSE 2025 the "small print" might affect previously installed versions of PSE on my computer and deactivate them after a certain time. Hopefully, that is not the case. Somehow, I doubt that the subscription will always stay for 3 years. I suspect that in the future it will be reduced to 2 years, then 1 year etc. Also any plugins I might purchase made to work specifically with version 2025 will also stop working. I also wonder if the new 2025 version might create a new type of psd file that cannot be opened or edited by older versions of PSE. Then, just like Adobe CC. I will need a perpetual subscription to continue to access and edit my psd files in the future. Maybe I am overreacting, but these are things that worry me. Kind regards Chris * I just saw this video explaining the new features of PSE 2025 www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxIcAMPEvlY

To take Affinity Photo as an example...There are two versions to date - Affinity Photo version 1 and Affinity Photo version 2.
When trying to open a file in AffinityPhoto2 which was created in AffinityPhoto1 a warning appears titled ‘Opening legacy document’ and says that editing said file will make it unusable in the older version. Use ‘Save As’ to preserve the original file. So this is something you would have to keep in mind.
When trying to open a file in AffinityPhoto1 which was created in AffinityPhoto2 a warning appears titled ‘Failed to open document’ and the reason given is that the file includes features from a later version of Affinity. In other words files created in the latest version are not backwards compatible and can’t be opened in a previous version.

Chris, Maybe Adobe will make more changes in the future but, at this point in time, this is the scenario. I installed PSE 2025 alongside 14 other versions -- PSE 7, PSE 10 through PSE 2024. Nothing has changed; each version continues to be independent of each other. All versions are living together in perfect harmony and working flawlessly. So far, no problems whatsoever. As far as I can tell, Adobe made no changes as to PSD files. I created some PSD files in PSE 2025 and was able to open/edit them in older PSE versions.

Thanks for checking Sepiana. I may decide download the 7 day trial but will probably stick with PSE 2024 as long as I can. The 3 year version of PSE 2025 does not appeal to me very much.
Kind regards Chris

Hopefully, you can find a boxed copy of PSE 2024 in a reputable retail store. But beware of cheap online offers which may offer counterfeit software. If the sales of PSE 2025 and beyond drop significantly, Adobe may consider reintroducing the perpetual licence. Time will tell. Kind regards Chris
