The photographer has hopes that you might be able to transform this rather ho-hum image into something worthy of a second glance. 1. Participants in the challenge may provide a screenshot of their edits within the RAW converter of their choice along with the reasons for their edits. 2. Following their initial edits members may use whatever “tools" they wish to create an image that portrays their artistic vision for the image as long as the character of the original image is not lost. You may not add anything to the image that wasn’t already there.3. Including information on plug-ins, actions, external editors, textures, sky replacements etc that were used will only help to inform members of some of the creative options that are available to today’s photographer. 4. Including layer stacks may be something to consider when presenting a final edit. 5. The Challenge will end on Thursday, Oct. 24th. At that time our photographer will choose three top edits. Here is a screenshot of the image we will be working on: Link to RAW file

This was a fun challenge for me. Since a majority of the image was "monochrome" I decided on making it B&W using a selenium and gold tone. I removed the curve ahead sing and cropped. On1 Photo Raw was used for all processing.

This was a fun challenge for me. Good to hear that, Pete. Thanks for sharing the reasoning behind your choice to go monochromatic for this first edit. It needs to be viewed large to fully appreciate the the beauty of your edit. I can see this framed and hung on a wall.

You're welcome, Frank. I especially like the sense of depth you have created with your editing choices. I am linking to this earlier post you made on our forum for some who may not know/remember what TK9 is in reference to.

Interesting challenge. I started by running it through Topaz Photo AI to remove any noise and sharpen. Then took it into Lightroom and applied the following settings basically aimed at bringing out more detail on the hillside. I also removed a couple of distractions and cropped to remove the signs of habitation on the right. The sky I treated separately with a mask to darken and add contrast. Finished off with a slight vignette. Tony

Couldn't resist trying a neural filter in Photoshop and changing the season ... Tony

Forgot to record my settings. - Increased exposure - Decreased contrast - Added negative Dehaze - Negative Dehaze on the sky - Decreased saturation - Using color grading, added some orange to the highlights and light blue to the shadows

Nicely done, natural looking edit with increased detail. I especially like the way you handled the sky. Couldn't resist trying a neural filter in Photoshop and changing the season ... Definitely gave it a "wintery" look. I like the snow on the background and the build-up along the side of the road.....not sure about the foreground trees.

An unexpected and creative edit, Andy . It reminds me somewhat of the faded matte look of Teresa Freitas. You may have to wait a few seconds for her images to load.

Decided to replace the sky due to all of the dust spots.

Opened image in the Develop Persona of Affinity Photo (their Camera Raw) and applied the settings as per the screen shot below. I also applied a curves adjustment before moving into Affinities Photo Persona. I opened the ON1 Effects 2024 plugin and applied an HDR filter - Surreal. Back in Affinity Photo I applied a slight Depth of Field Filter and also a High Pass Filter with the Overlay blend mode.

Opened image in the Develop Persona of Affinity Photo (their Camera Raw) and applied the settings as per the screen shot below. Thanks for sharing your Affinity panel, Lillias. Your editing choices have put the emphasis on the middle background mound area, where you have pulled out a great deal of detail.

PeteB , interesting edit....haven't done mine yet and kept thinking that it probably would be similar to what has already been shared. And then I viewed yours which to my eye seems strikingly different than the others (except for Andy's). I think that may be due to the green of the trees. Thanks for opening my eyes to how different this scene may appear due to subtle differences in editing choices.
