Stretched the image to the left to remove part of the slope on the left. Used the warp tool to stretch the road and widen it to the right. Used content aware crop to add a few millimetres to the right of the frame. Your edit seems to emphasize the blue/orange complementary colors in the image, Chris. I especially like the way you handled the road as it now appears to "sweep" us into the image. |

I made a couple of very minor changes to the raw file in PSE 2024. Took into Topaz Studio and applied the Fine Marker Drawing effect Took a duplicate of my initial edit back into Topaz Studio and applied the Ancient 3D Sketch effect. In PSE I blended those two effects together using the Darker Colour blend mode. Added a drop of colour to the sky using a gradient at a very low opacity and then added a couple of clouds to complete the image. Oh and somewhere along the way I did use a couple of levels adjustments.  |

Here is a black and white version made from my previous take. Converted to B&W using a gradient map and tweaked the tones with a Hue/Saturation layer. Darkened the sky with a levels adjustment.   |

This was my RAW file taken with my first DSLR, the Canon 40D. It is interesting as I go through this thread to read my responses to each of the submissions, and compare them to what in the end, were my top three choices. While I was impressed with the detail that was recovered, my picks are those that reflected the tranquility of the landscape. As they were presented..... tonyw 's first submission seemed to strike a nice balance between enhancing the detail while maintaining the "soft" look of this rolling landscape.  I will admit to being taken aback when first viewing Andy 's submission. However, in the end, I found his artistic interpretation challenged me to "think outside the box" and view it from a different perspective. Frequently doubting myself, I felt better when I saw that Howard had also liked this edit.  Chris ' black and white draws us into the landscape has a "painterly" look that I especially like. 
Thanks to everyone who submitted and/or commented/"liked"/viewed the images submitted. I hope you enjoyed the challenge. Please consider submitting a RAW/NIF/CRW.....whatever is used for you camera brand for a future challenge. Feel free to contact me with any questions you might have regarding the challenge. Thank you Helen for sharing this fun raw challenge and for choosing one of my edits. I enjoyed seeing all the different edits and interpretations and have learned from the experience of others.
