I know how to save a .psd file as a .tiff file and retain all the layers. I do this one photo at a time. Is there a way to process multiple files and still retain the layers? Many thanks in advance for any help. Gill

Have you tried File > Process Multiple Files ?
The files you want to convert all need to be open in the editor but other than that you can choose where to save them, how to save them, and at what quality if you're saving to jpeg. I use it all the time to make my large original files into ones suitable for uploading to the web.

Processing the files opened in the editor is one way, the other one is to process all the files in a folder. They don't need to be open in that option.

Hi ChrisAnn and hallo you are just along the coast from me (Wimborne)! Thank you, I have tried your suggestion but seem to be able to save them only without the layers still available. I understood that tiff files are smaller than psd ones.

Hi from down the coast. I see what you mean (now that I've had a 'play'.) There isn't an option to keep layers which is available when you save them individually. This would be a very convoluted process if you have a lot to convert. I was wondering, would it be better to buy an external drive and keep all your photos on that? Then you wouldn't need to resave them as tiffs to conserve disc space. I've been doing another experiment but have found that there is very little difference in file size between a psd and a tiff with layers. Are you really sure that going through this process is worth the effort? I must admit that as my camera only takes jpegs I simply save my worked-on photos as tiffs so as not to lose definition. If you want your files to end up as tiffs why not save them as tiffs from the outset. Or am I missing something?

Hi ChrisAnn and thank you again. I do a lot of digital scrapbooking and need some psd files so that I can change certain layers for new projects. I certainly wouldn't change all the files I have. Those I have changed have been a lot smaller. Once saved that way I delete the psd file. I agree it would be more sensible to save as tiff in the first place but never remember! Thanks again.
