Hi All, I have just updated to Windows 10 and now my elements 11 won't open auto in expert. Every time I open it, it jumps back to "Quick"? Every on other setting remains the same save expert.

Hi knot, welcome to PSE&M!
Elements 11 is supposed to remember the last editing mode you were using before you exit this program. Do you mean this is not happening?

Hi knot, welcome to PSE&M! Elements 11 is supposed to remember the last editing mode you were using before you exit this program. Do you mean this is not happening? Correct. I have been using this for some time now and has been fine until the last update of elements and windows 10. Now is start in expert, then the screen jumps back to quick after a second or two.

Correct. I have been using this for some time now and has been fine until the last update of elements and windows 10. Now is start in expert, then the screen jumps back to quick after a second or two. I may be wrong but I don't think this problem is related to Windows 10. There have been many reports about this happening with other versions of Windows. Let's do some troubleshooting; maybe one of these suggestions will work for you.
- Did you install Elements 11 as administrator? If not, launch this program as administrator by right-clicking on the desktop shortcut and selecting "Run as administrator". See what happens. If the problem has disappeared, you can launch Elements as a standard user from now on.
- Delete the Preferences file. Go to Edit>Preferences>General. Click on the "Reset Preferences on next launch" button. Ignore the "This cannot be undone." warning and click OK. Close Elements and then start it again. Check to see if the problem is gone.
NOTE: If you don't have time to get to the Edit menu in the Expert mode because Elements is jumping back to the Quick mode too fast, you can you use the Edit menu in this mode.

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried them and no change. it still jumps back to quick mode when launched. I can edit in expert fine, it is just I have to click expert every time I launch now. Strange it has been working for years.

How are you launching Elements? Via the Welcome Screen or via a direct shortcut to the Editor or the Organizer?

when I first launched I configured it to bypass welcome screen and go straight to editor. OK. Just one more question. Did you use the "Settings" button on the Welcome screen or did you create a desktop shortcut to the Editor?

Did you use the "Settings" button on the Welcome screen or did you create a desktop shortcut to the Editor? I used the settings button on the welcome screen. OK, I think you are on to something here. I went to the .exe file and launched, changed the settings to expert, then launched again. It stayed on expert this time. UPDATE: Thank you very much, it is fixed. I have created a new shortcut from the .exe file (after I changed it to expert) and it is working properly now. Cheers.
