I wasn't sure whether to post my question here or in the Organizer... but my Subject line pretty well sums it up. I have two versions of some of my photos, one in TIF and one in JPG. Once in a while, about once every couple of dozen, I enter Cntrl I on a JPG in the Organizer and it does get me to the Editor, but the screen is blank. So far, this hasn't happened to the TIF version.
Am using PSE9, btw.
Thank you!

I've learned something... when stuck, walk away from the computer, take a nap, fill the bird feeder, etc.
I thought of a simple solution... and it worked - yahoo! I copied the photo to a jpg under a different name, did a Cntrl I in the Organizer, and it came right up in the Editor. I could have deleted my post but perhaps others might run into this problem also. I used FastStone, a simple and free file viewer, and also did a copy in PSE itself - they both worked.
I'm curious though... perhaps someone more familiar with computers can tell me why this worked?

Paul,
I am not a computer expert but, to me, it looks like the problem was with the way the file was originally named. The fact that the problem disappeared once you renamed the file seems to indicate this possibility. Also, you said this happened "once in a while, about once every couple of dozen". Again, this seems to indicate that the culprit was the file and not Elements or your computer.

Sepiana,
I agree totally, that it must be the file - not so sure about the naming - although the file name was long, about 25 characters. It was created by a scanner, so it could have been something weird about my scan - although virtually all the files in that album came from the same scanner. The file viewer I mentioned, FastStone, opened it with no problem. And it opened up in PSE directly, using Cntrl O, without trying to open it from the Organizer using Cntrl I.
We'll never know!
Thanks for the feedback!
Paul
