Just before I took this shot my little garden friend sat on my tripod mounted camera and posed for me before flitting to the log...why oh why did I not have a second camera to hand!!

Thank you for the kind comments folks. Bayla I normally shoot with Olympus micro four thirds system (which I still use), this one was took with a Nikon D5200 and Nikon AFS 55-200mm VR lens,I have only owned the Nikon for two weeks (bargain price as it is a discontinued older model) and still finding my way around it .

Great capture Paul,,,,that would have been really cool if you had got that shot off of the robin on the camera. How much PP if any did you do to this image and what if you would like to share?

Thank you Judy.
Thank you Dick, I only shoot raw so this image only went through my raw converter of choice so no additional pp after the raw conversion.

I agree RAW is the way to go. How is your remote setup fixed, is that a prefocus on the log/post and a remote shutter release, if so how far away can you be?

I didn't think of that but that's true as you would have mid stroke control on the clicker, smile, good job. 150' that's amazing what technology is doing.

Good capture of the robin, craftysnapper; your robin doesn't look the same as our robins. I notice you have quite a few various birds perched on that same post. I use solid used 7x9 railroad ties wherever I need wooden fence posts, such as corners, gates, etc. I have such a cross-tie corner post in a corner of the horse lot where the horse lot, driveway, woods, and a cedar thicket all come together. I have taken pictures of just about every critter around here sitting atop that post. Sometimes, I pour a bit of bird-seed on the flat 7x9 top of the post to entice something picture-worthy to land there. Although I haven't yet taken time to get it done; a few days ago, it came to mind that I should use a large Forstner bit to bore a recess in the top of the post so that my bait is concealed from the camera. Thanks for reading.

your robin doesn't look the same as our robins. Just wondering....do American Xmas cards not have robins on then? In Britain Robin Redbreast is one of those Xmas icons! Bayla
