Hello all...Im still as yet not very uncomfortable using Elements as my main editor (I use Lightroom-and PSE for cloning and major removing) ..Once I save an image to my pictures folder, it is saved with the PSE icon with a flipped corner..How can I have it show the image that I have saved? I have all my images saved with the original file name and .psd...
Hope I posted in the correct forum....Tx

Hi mxwizard,
Let's see if I understood what you are saying.
When you save your image in the PSD format, you don't get a preview thumbnail. You just get a generic thumbnail. It this what you mean?
Another question -- Has it always been like this?

Thank you for the replies....I get so excited to post that I forget to give all the imformantion,,
Sepiana--Yes I only get the generic thumbnail, and I believe it has always been that way.
Major Major-- Yes I am on windows (ver 8).Thanks for the tip.
I have soooooooo many sites marked to better understand PSE and I have PDF'S from another site, but once I get started I seem to get a little overwhelmed. Which is really funny because I watch videos and say ...Well that's not that hard to do.!!!!! LOL.

Sepiana--Yes I only get the generic thumbnail, and I believe it has always been that way. Thanks! That's what I thought. You are seeing generic thumbnails for PSD files. Windows cannot generate preview thumbnails for these files (or for Raw files for that matter). You need to install a Codec. I myself use FastPictureViewer Codec Pack and I highly recommend it. It is not free ($9.99) but it is worth every penny. Also, I believe the updates within a version are free.
Other possibilities are:
FastStone Image Viewer (Free) IrfanView (free)

And, as I mentioned above, SageThumbs.
I don't believe Irfanview will convert the thumbnails.

I don't believe Irfanview will convert the thumbnails. Thanks, Craig! I didn't know that. Living and Learning!

Thank-you again for the great tips...Just did some internet browsing on the recommend sites, and found a web solution that I'm sure I had in the beginning and somehow got lost....
Sepiana..I had always saved out my files from PSE as a Tiff ( have thumbnail on these ) ( Tim Grey ) then imported them into Lightroom. I now have my previews back....DAAADAAAA.
When I open the files back into PSE all the layers are still there....I love the internet and thanks again for holding my hand....
