Here is an effect that is quite compelling, and inexplicably, quick and easy! It is a video tutorial and well suited for any version of Photoshop Elements. It is called the The Hayes Island Effect. Here is my application of this effect to an afternoon backyard family barbecue at my sister-in-law's house; is that nice or what?! Give it a go, and have some fun!! If you run into any complications just leave a note and we'll get it worked out. FYI: you have 2 weeks before the next challenge, so try this effect out on a few images, get to know it, see what works and share the best of them with us. I am really looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Thanks Tom for reminding me about this great tutorial, I think it works better when there are people in the frame, something I must do more often when I'm out and about with my camera. Jacki.

This is a very artistic approach to redefining your photo.

Thanks for your contributions! I agree that having people in the scene does work well with this effect.

Nice Helen! I sure like the softness this technique imparts.
