I want to give my external hard drive one more chance to give up it's info before I toss it in the scrap heap
When I plug it in to any of three computers, it shows there is nothing on it, but I know that's not true.
Is there any freeware out there I can use to try to see if I can extract anything from this piece of junk? It probably doesn't have anything vital on it except old digital scrapbooking stuff, but it would be nice to see if there is anything worth saving.
If all else fails, I can try to remove the disc and put it into another same brand external hard drive to see if it's just a mechanical issue. But then, I may end up with two pieces of junk. LOL
I do not want to send it out even if I could find someone who's cheap. I do not know if there is any personal info on it.

Janice,
If you don't want to mess with your existing external drive, they make some very cheap external enclosures to turn any hard drive into an external drive. I do my shopping at newegg.com and you should be able to find them for under $40.
