I finally got my version 14 upgrade from Costco and the installation was pretty painless. However none of my addons (JixPix, Redfield, etc) are present under Filter, nor the Perfect Suite under Automation Tools. How do I get those back?

Each version of Elements is an independent one. Add-ons are not automatically transferred from one version to the other. They need to be installed. You can copy/paste the files into the Plug-ins file or you can run the plug-in installer.

You can copy/paste the files into the Plug-ins file Thanks Sepiana. Just to be clear, you are saying I should locate a plugin folder under the previous version of PSE, and copy all the files I find there to the plugin folder for version 14; is that correct?

Just to be clear, you are saying I should locate a plugin folder under the previous version of PSE, and copy all the files I find there to the plugin folder for version 14; is that correct? Yes, that's correct. However, . . . which previous version of Elements do you have? If you have Elements 12 and earlier, this is not going to work. On Windows, Elements 12 and earlier are 32-bit applications. This means that the plug-ins installed in these versions are 32-bit. 32-bit plug-ins are not compatible with Elements 14, a 64-bit application. In this case, you need to go back to the plug-in website and see if there is a 64-bit version of it. If there is one and it comes with an installer, the installer will do the job because it is designed to install both the 32-bit and the 64-bit version of the plug-in. It will check the host application and will install the plug-in accordingly.

OK; thanks! I wasn't sure, as the PSE v14 folder looked different; there was a different icon where the traditional folder icon should be. I held my breath and tried it anyway and it worked.
Well, almost; the Perfect suite folders were copied, but they still do not show up in PSEv14 under Automation Tools. Do I have to run the installer to get them to be seen?

It has been my experience that it is better to run the installer for the ON1 products instead of just doing a copy/paste job. There are too many files involved. Anyway, this was the advice I once got.

Thanks Sepiana. I am finding that the other plugins don't work, even though they show up now. I guess I will have to locate the installers and run them.

I had to run installers for the add ons to make them work. Had to reinstall all of the brushes I had added previously as well.

Tom, have you tried looking for OnOne under filters? The newest version is reached via filters rather than automation.

It is standard procedure when you get a new version of Elements. Add-ons -- actions, plug-ins, brushes, custom shapes, layer styles, etc. -- need to be installed in the appropriate folder in the new version. In Elements 11 and above, actions and layer styles can just be loaded into Elements (the way it is done in Photoshop). This was one of the biggest changes Adobe made in Elements. Elements users asked and Adobe listened!

Great idea! I didn't even think of this because Tom had said "Perfect Suite". But, if he is using the new version (called ON1 Photo 10), this change in menu location would explain why this is happening.
the Perfect suite folders were copied, but they still do not show up in PSEv14 under Automation Tools.

Yes, there is an On1 entry under Filters; thanks! There are 3 entries: Effects, Enhance & Portrait; is that all there should be?

Yes, that's all you get when ON1 Photo 10 is installed as a plug-in in Elements or Photoshop. You get two additional modules -- Browse and Layers -- in the standalone version.
