Hello Everyone.
It's time for a new Creative Effects Challenge. This week I picked a Sketch Effect that I think you all will like. It's by davrodigital on YouTube. It is about an 11 minute video, but it has a couple features in it that I didn't know before. Like hold the Alt button & go to Layers, & down to Merge Layers to combine Layers on to a blank layer. This way you can still adjust each and every layer. There is a short part where he goes into a setting that is for people who are using a tablet. If you don't use a tablet don't worry about it. I just adjusted the size of my brush a couple of times. So give it a try. I can't wait to see your results.
I'm sorry to say that this will be the last challenge I will be posting. Do to medical issues with my wife. Maybe some time down the road when things get better I will be able to resume posting them again. If someone would be interested in posting the CEC get ahold of one of the moderators. They would appreciate it very much.
Here is my attempt.

Thanks Mike, for your many contributions to PSE&M. I hope that your wife's health improves and look forward to seeing you pop in when you can. You have chosen an awesome tut.....I love this effect and am a big fan of davrodigital. Looking forward to seeing how he approaches this effect!

Mike, Thank you for all your help in running the CE Challenges; you will be missed. I hope your wife's health improves soon. I usually don't like video tutorials, but as this one was one effect I really wanted to try and the tutorial was not overly long I decided to give this a go.

Here's my first attempt, Mike. Hope to try this again. I added a torn paper border from OnOne Photo 10 at the end.

Mike, thanks for hosting the CE challenge (and the EP challenge as well)! I hope your wife's health will improve.
You found a very interesting tutorial. It is very effective and allows for plenty of variations.
I basically followed this tutorial and, then, did this tweaking.
- Applied the Poster Edges filter (Filter>Artistic> . . .). - Applied a paper texture from Premium Pixels. - Applied a border effect from Filter Forge.

Mike, I can't resist this effect. It is so much fun! This time I followed the tutorial and, then, applied an art paper texture from Photoshop Daily.

Well now, I quite like this one! What is Photoshop Daily please, I could not find it.

Well now, I quite like this one! What is Photoshop Daily please, I could not find it. It looks like this site is no longer up and running; I can't find it either. They used to have a tab called "Freebies". You could get all kinds of goodies -- textures, brushes, stock images. etc. They were also the site behind the Photoshop Creative magazine. Now, when I try, this is what I get.

Like Sepiana, I couldn't resist creating another one. After following the tutorial I used the new Topaz Texture Effects to create the texture and border.

Mike, many good wishes for your wife's speedy recovery. Don't be a stranger even if you only look in as a spectator. I like this sketching method and the results here are beautiful. Thanks for finding it. Rita

Well, I'm entirely happy with my result, but I do really like this tutorial. The method for getting the lines using smart blur was new to me and works really well! This is a display in a fancy home furnishings store:

Great job everyone. I absolutely love what you all have done so far. Each one is unique. I would like to thank all of you for your kind words & best wishes for my wife. If everything goes all right the doctor said maybe Wednesday she can come home. That would be great. But there still is many months of rehab for her to do. Thanks again, and keep all of the wonderful pictures coming.

Thanks Verber10 for this tut. Hope everything does well with your wife and will look forward to the time when you can post more creative challenges. I followed the tut and applied a texture in ON1. I took the original photo at the Atlanta Zoo.

This was a fun exercise. Love your own example with the train. I'd hang it on my wall any time. Best wishes to your wife for a steady but sure recovery. Photo from Morguefile...
