Hi everyone,
Would you like to participate in this challenge? Just post a photo or photos which will be your interpretation of the theme.
The rules are rather simple.
Your photo(s) should be your own, i.e., they should not have been taken by someone else.
Your photo(s) should be taken during the week of the theme.
You are allowed to do some photoshopping.
You are to experiment and, most of all, have fun.

To start the ball rolling on this week's theme, these are the gates of Carew Manor, formerly our local stately home but today a school for children with special needs.

These gates lead to sunshine, open air and greenery....
In contrast, these are the gates of Wandsworth Prison which lead you inside and take away your freedom.

What an interpretation of this theme! Very original! I love how you brought these two "opposite" gates together; it really highlighted what one should expect upon going through them.

Can't compete with Dennis and Brenda's gates - and interestingly I know those gates having been raised in the area (but not inside Wandsworth prison!) I did find this old farm gate that hasn't been used as a gate in years which makes it a little more photogenic than a modern farm gate. A dull damp day so I had to brighten it up with an ON1 Sunshine effect.  Tony |

Tony - I love old gates (the older and rustic the better). Great finding! Very interesting angle (Perpective?)!
Bill - I really like the way you captured this urban gate. Quite a leading line! Great job!

It was a dismal autumn day (cold, damp, overcast) but I went driving around the countryside anyway and found this railroad gate.

Sepiana - good choice of gate. Like the symmetry and the rule of thirds for the horizon. Takes the eye across the tracks and down the road to what lies beyond. Wouldn't be half as effective on a blue sky day! BTW have you tried the new LR dehaze filter as a gradient adjustment on dull skies? I used it on my gate sky and it brings out cloud detail that I never noticed in the bland sky original.

Thanks for taking the time to comment on my entry!
To be honest . . . I keep forgetting to use the Dehaze filter in Lightroom. I used it only a few times. I have been using Topaz Lens Effects (UV Haze); it is quite effective.
