Everyone's first pages sure beat mine. LOL
I think the generational layouts is what scrapbooking is all about. It's not just having the photos, but talking about them with our journaling. And I enjoy seeing everyone's family photos displayed like this. Really interesting and like BillieJean said - lovely.

I used to scrapbook the old fashioned way many years ago when our daughter was born, but I never managed the jump to digital scrapbooking. Somewhere along the line I lost my mojo for scrapbooking and went on to photography instead.
I should take a photo of one of my very first non-digital layouts; in fact, I don't think we have looked at those photo albums for years.

Simone - I'm betting you never made the jump to digital because you were so tired of the paper world with it's messes, cost, and tediousness. You always have to clean up afterwards, etc.
Digital does away with all those things, so maybe in the future, when you are looking for another creative outlet, you'll give it a try. If you know PSE or CS - jumping into digital scrapbooking is very easy. If you ever want to try it out, there are resources out there you can get for free. Many of the digital scrapbooking sites have freebies - so you won't have to invest a penny to try your hand at it.
I'd be interested in seeing some of your paper work. I think paper scrapbooking is very beautiful.

Thanks Janice.
I actually really enjoyed the "manual" process of scrapbooking. I think the reason I never made the leap to digital was that I really really enjoy the look and feel of the paper pages and the cost of printing did not offset the cost of supplies for me back then (we are talking 15 years ago, when printing was a lot more expensive than it is today).

I hear you - there is something very beautiful about the dimensional quality of paper scrapbooking - and I have seen some greeting cards that put digital ones to shame. I never went into digital scrapooking "on purpose." I started with greeting cards, bought PSE on a lark just because I wanted to learn some new software and when I couldn't seem to grasp the concept of PSE, bought a book that looked easy to follow using PSE to created digital scrapbook pages. In it, each scrapbook lesson - like making background papers, etc. - taught me another PSE tool. In the back of the book, there were digital scrapbooking websites and once I got on those, I "had to" make layouts in order to be a vital part of the community. It snowballed from there. My greeting card making went from digital to hybrid and back again. So I do have some construction paper and stickers in my stash. I liked the look of the hybrids, but I like the simplicity and ability to change my mind about where something goes, that goes along with digital. Clip Art is from pcCrafter. Wish they were still in business. They made some of the cutest stuff, but I guess it 'died' because scrapbooking isn't going cutesy - it's going more artistic.
