These are beautiful, Phil! You've nailed the exposure.....did you use HDR processing? Would be fun if others share some Christmas scenes from where they live!

Phil - those are some of the most beautiful shots I've seen. You have an eye for detail. The first one is my favorite because of the way the carousel draws the eye.

As you can see by a couple of umbrellas in use there was light rain, but people were still ice skating !!

Phil,
A great series of shots!
And I agree with Helen, let's see the Christmas scenes from others. Given our diverse membership from all around the world, it would be great to see what scenes others have in their home towns. I will have to go out one night this week to photograph the lights in our little town.
Thanks Phil for the inspiration!
Oh and hand held, great accomplishment!

Good idea to see more Christmas Themed images from around the different parts of the world that we all live. Perhaps one of the Admins could add in a 'Christmas Theme' slot for members to post especially for the festive period.

I'm hoping to be able to take some photos of the town when I next go. Apparently, we have a 'real' ice skating rink in the newer shopping center, the Arc, and should be in place until January. That's some excitement, especially for the kids Just hope none of the skaters end up in our local A/E dept Anyway, it would be lovely to have some photos of this excitement, eh?

There is an "ice rink" in the downtown square each Christmas. It's made of plastic. Strange sight. It doesn't look slick enough to skate on. But that's what you have to do when it might hit 80 during the holiday season.

Some pix from tonight....and it's wayyyy past my bedtime as I post! Great capture. I especially like the one across the water with the subdued reflections.

All beautiful shots. Unfortunately my p&s hates evening and lights, so I won't be getting anything. I hope to find some daytime scenes.
