Greetings to all - within the last 6 mos I have switched over to back button focusing and after trials, errors, and mindset change have totally embraced it. I noticed in another thread that someone had tried it but ended up with all blurry photos. I would be interested in hearing other people's take on this way of focusing. ~bruce.

Yes, I use bbf too.
I can understand why some people get blurred pictures sometimes - especially those with a poor memory like me:)) - as with the conventional way you automatically focus each time you take a picture; with bbf you have to remember to refocus if you change position(say).

I will need to read up on just how to go about this back button focusing.
I am in such a habit of manual focusing that it is hard for me to transition to any sort of AF; I have often wished for some sort of Vernier adjustment on focusing, so as to dial in that last bit of hair-splitting accuracy.

Does anyone know if you can do back-button focussing with mirrorless cameras like Olympus?

Perfect. I have the OMD-E1. I'll definitely have to give this method a try as I've heard so much about it!

Re fine tuning, you can do that with live view x5 and x10 That is another feature I have been meaning to investigate. My main concern with using live view is quickness, but then my concerns may be unfounded. Thanks.

I tried it for a while after reading about it on the old EV forum, but eventually reset my camera to auto focusing as I just didnt seem to be able to master the technique. Probably due to degenerating old brain cells, its hard to teach an old bird new tricks!

Probably due to degenerating old brain cells, its hard to teach an old bird new tricks! It is slower but is ideal in some cases eg macro or table top images.
