Doing a test...... Definitely no little 'ad' boxes under my image when you click on it. Bayla

Bayla,
The first time I looked at your image those four "ads" were not there, only the links. Once I clicked on the "full size" link they showed up.
While in the processing of uploading this screen shot I selected "FAMILY content". However, this doesn't seem to apply when I clicked on the "full size" link. As you can see, this can lead to the situation you described in an earlier post -- "some of the images showing at the bottom are not images I want to be displaying on my computer".

Sepiana,
Where are you seeing this 'full size' link to click on?
Bayla
EDIT: It's OK, I found it....and now I see what you mean.
Hmm. Definitely am being more careful when I click on a thumbnail now....avoiding scrolling down or clicking anywhere.

Well, I had disabled Adblock... I have put it on again. Yes, that's the solution. I had temporarily disabled Adblock; that's when I noticed those ads. If anyone needs to download Adblock, here is the link.

Michel, Sepiana,
Thanks. I have installed Adblock.
And now there is a large notice at the top of this forum that reads Please consider supporting this website by disabling your ad-blocker.This website does not use audio ads, popups, or other annoyances. Thank you!

Thank you!Bayla Bayla, the other solution is not to use Adblock but just be careful and not click on the "full size" link. However, this is not an optimal solution either, especially if you have other people (particularly children) accessing your computer.
Here is another possibility -- Use Adblock selectively. You can decide on which sites you want to block the ads. This means you could disable Adblock on our forum but keep it enabled on the image-hosting site. See if this helps!
EDIT: If you are concerned about these ads, what about using CubeUpload or Pixentral?

Probably a silly question; but, what does the button "upload via postimage.org" do ?
Is this postimage.org a photo hosting site like pixentral or cubeupload ?
Thanks for reading. This is a test. Uploaded via postimage in a flash!
Thanks, everyone, for demonstrating the image host business.
Just to give me a measuring stick to go by, what are the dimensions of this image ?
If I just use one of my 40" x 60" @ 72ppi un-resized images, is it going to overwhelm things; or, will it be viewable without having to chase it all over ?
Thanks.

Bayla, not sure why you would experience different views, but have you got an ad blocker for your browers? I use Adblock for Google Chrome and it works a treat.

This is very strange... I'm quite sure I'm the person who took this picture about a year ago, in the spring of 2014. I found it easily on my hard drive. For the last several years I've taken photos of the Heritage Home Tour here in Billings, Montana. It was not for pay, so I'm not upset that it's making the rounds. In fact, I'm rather pleased! But just curious... how did it get here? By the way, this has been a very useful thread. I've had trouble learning how to post images myself. I used postimage.org for this one, seems to work well. Thanks to all who contributed. Best regards, Paul Whiting

But just curious... how did it get here?....................... Best regards, Paul Whiting Most probably because either you or someone else posted it on the Internet in the past. Or maybe someone else took a photo from the same vantage point as you and posted it on the Internet. What many people do not realise or tend to forget sometimes is that once you put a photo into cyberspace somewhere it is effectively "gone" and anyone on the planet with access to the Internet can most probably view it and take it. There is absolutely nothing you can do to stop anyone 100% from taking a photo they can see in their browser. People can simply click the "Print Screen" button on a keyboard, or as a last resort simply take a photo of their computer screen with a decent camera. And finally, be aware that although you may select to "delete" a photo you have stored online somewhere, all you are most probably doing is marking it invisible with the photo remaining on the server. The owners/administrators of the server can still do what they like with your photos. If you do not want people to take your published photos, all you can do to discourage them is to make them jump through some extra hoops to remove water marks you might have on the photos. But watermarks are only a discouragement, not a method to stop people taking your photos. The bottom line here is: if you feel uncomfortable with someone possibly taking a copy of your published online photos, then the only way you can guarantee 100% someone won't take it, is to not publish/upload it in the first place. Hope this helps

Thanks for your reply, Dave,
Perhaps I didn't make my post clear. I'm not at all uncomfortable to see my photo posted here. in fact I was pleasantly surprised, really! I take pictures every spring for our local Heritage Home Tour, and I do not charge for that. My photos are all over local media leading up to the tour and I consider my photos as my part in this annual event. They are shown on local television, used in two local newspapers, and notecards portraying the owners' house - and all are donations. But they've never been on line. So to see it on a forum available all over the world is truly astonishing. Our city, Billings, is the largest city in Montana, but has only 100,00 residents. Now you, in Australia, are viewing this house which is only about 10 blocks from our house!
I found this rather amazing, that's all! I was simply curious how it got here. I emailed the person uploading the post and maintained as civil tone as I could. There aren't many people here in Billings who use Elements and I hope to hear from him or her, perhaps have coffee, and swap tips on how better to use this software. Honest, that's all! What else can I say?!
Best regards,
Paul

Hi Paul,
No problem
I understood from your original post that you weren't concerned that it was freely available on the Internet but I wasn't sure how to interpret your question:
But just curious... how did it get here? I wondered if you meant the source used by the other poster of your photo or the actual "mechanics" of someone taking a copy of an image on the Internet and posting it here, or anywhere else. I took a punt on the latter because obviously I don't know where the other poster got your image from.
Hope this clarifies my reply

Hi Dave,
Well, I don't think I'll say much more about it here. Again, I'm not upset about seeing my photo here, I was rather pleasantly surprised! And a little curious, that's all.
All for now,
Paul
