Probably a silly question; but, what does the button "upload via postimage.org" do ?
Is this postimage.org a photo hosting site like pixentral or cubeupload ?
Thanks for reading.

I Googled postimage.org and find that it is a hosting site. It has mixed reviews so wouldn't want to use it. So why is there a button in the Quick Reply window giving me the option to use it? I would have thought Flikr or some such would have been a more popular hosting site.

Thanks for reading. Although I can't speak knowledgeably about it, it allows you to easily have an image show up in your post. If you use that button, you are presented with a dialog that allows you to upload an image to their server, and a line of html is inserted into your post that refers to it. Like so: If you click Quote to reply, then click on the BBCode tab at the bottom, you can see the line that was inserted. You can back out of the reply by using the back button of your browser.

Hi ChrisAnn, I can't speak to how it compares to other image hosting sites, but the advantage here is that it seamlessly integrates with the forum software. With Flickr you have to upload you image there first, then provide a link to here in your post, so it is a more hands-on process. (at least that's how it seems to me).

The purpose is to easily insert an image with a preview in a post, without being constrained by the size limits or the limits in storage duration. It seems postimage does the job. The ability of this site to host galleries seems limited, so we need such additional tools. You can always show a link to your favorite (and popular) storing site, but the ease of use to show a preview is not guaranteed. As for Flickr, I hope the current problem with the the Flicker Gallery can be overcome soon.

Can someone answer this question with regard to postimage:
Both Tom's and Ken's images open up to something bigger when you click on them, but Tom's is advert free whereas Ken's is not.....and some of the images showing at the bottom are not images I want to be displaying on my computer.
Why the difference?

Hmm. I did not see any adverts when I clicked on Ken's photo, Bayla. Craig, I get four boxes at the bottom underneath his picture with clickable links on them. Bayla EDIT: It's odd, sometimes I see them, sometimes I don't! EDIT: Been experimenting.....seems if the image is large enough, when you click on it it fills up the whole screen & you don't see anything else....but if the image is smaller then you do see the other images.

Hmm. I did not see any adverts when I clicked on Ken's photo, Bayla. When you click on Ken's photo the page which opens up has an "image search" link. If you click on it, you will get two options -- ADULT content and FAMILY content. We (Administrators/Moderators) may need to look into this.

This is what I see. I wouldn't consider the links to be "adverts". Like Sepiana, what I see is the OPTION to search for either adult or family content. It's not as if one could accidentally be exposed to adult content.

So with some images it looks like that for me....but other times this is what I see: And btw when I click on YOUR image I do see the four boxes with 'ads' or whatever they are! But my image doesn't (apart from the ones in the actual image!) Bayla
